Senior Legal Assistant - Pre/Post-Judgment (Collections)

Overview

Seeking a Senior Legal Assistant to support a Pre-Suit / Post-Judgment Collections team in a fast-paced legal environment. This role focuses on legal document preparation, case management, court communications, and e-filing, primarily within collections, bankruptcy, and post-judgment matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file legal documents, including:
    • Pleadings, writs, motions, dismissals, orders, correspondence, and agreements
  • Perform court filings and e-filings using state and county e-filing systems
  • Communicate with courts, clerks, judges' offices, and process servers regarding case status and filing requirements
  • Track, research, and resolve rejected filings, judgments, and proof-of-service issues
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in case management and client systems
  • Support pre-suit, post-judgment, and collections workflows
  • Prepare files for judgment entry, consent judgments, and service
  • Run and review reports related to filings, service attempts, and case status
  • Coordinate service of process and follow up on completion and address issues
  • Provide ongoing administrative and case support to attorneys and management
  • Assist with additional legal administrative duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of legal assistant or legal administrative experience
  • Prior experience in collections law, bankruptcy, foreclosure, or judgment enforcement preferred
  • Ability to interpret, draft, and prepare legal documents
  • Experience with court systems, e-filing portals, and legal document management
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Paralegal certificate or legal studies background preferred
